One of the most famous swordsmen of his time, Bungoro Hikida (1437-1487), early in his career went to Karatsu Palace to serve there. He arrived there terribly tired and hungry. Immediately upon arriving at the castle, he had to participate in fights to prove his right to serve the ruler. As a result, during the first battle he almost paid with his life. Throwed out of the gate, Hikida assumed a position of meditation. The motionless figure was observed from the fortress for 30 hours. Then they sent a group of soldiers to drive him away from the palace. Hikida dealt with them in a few seconds. He did not kill any of them, considering it unworthy of his sword. Then he sat down again and began to loudly mock the cowardice of his attackers. Later, the brave fencer quickly fought seven fights and won all of them with a large advantage. After this, the gates of the fortress were opened for him, and he was accepted into service.
