Greed has no end. If anyone succumbs to it, it will be bad for him. Somehow a squirrel and a turtle became friends. They went into the forest to collect nuts. The squirrel climbed onto the cedar, and the turtle sits under the cedar, waiting for the squirrel to drop a nut for her. A squirrel will pick a pine cone and try a nut - delicious. The squirrel was greedy: the more it eats, the greedier it becomes. She digs out all the nuts from the cones and throws the empty cones to the turtle.
- Squirrel! - the turtle shouts to her. - Why are the cones empty?
“They were born like that,” the squirrel answers.
But suddenly the squirrel accidentally dropped one cone full of nuts. The turtle looked and said:
- This is not true, you are deceiving me, obviously. Look how many nuts there are in the cones! You eat them yourself, however.
The turtle was offended. And the squirrel climbed down from the cedar, she had a lot of nuts, and said:
- Okay, turtle, don't be angry. Let's go to my house, I'll treat you to nuts there.
They approach the river. The elm lies across the river, touching the other bank with its top.
“Give me some nuts,” says the turtle to the squirrel. - As soon as you walk on the elm, you may fall.
It's a pity for the squirrel to have nuts.
“Okay, I’ll pass by somehow,” she replies.
We walked along the elm to the middle of the river. The squirrel looked down, the current was fast. The squirrel became afraid. She slipped and fell straight into the river.
- Turtle, friend! - the squirrel screams. - Save me, I will give you not only nuts - kernels from nuts! I'll clean it myself...
“It’s too late,” the turtle answers. - I can't help you.
The current quickly carried the squirrel and completely spun it around.
