One day a Spider was hunting on the prairie. He had with him a full quiver of arrows made from blades of grass, and the most flexible blade of grass served as a bow. While hunting he met the Fox.
“Hello, brother Fox,” said the Spider. - How are you doing?
“What kind of Fox am I?” he said in amazement. “Just yesterday, Brother Bison turned me into Bison so that I could chew some grass.” I complained to him that it was a hungry year.
“That’s right,” the Spider sighed, “this is a hungry year.”
Listen, Fox, can you turn me into a Bison, then I would also chew some grass.
“Why, I can,” responded the Fox. “I saw Bison do it.” Climb up that hill, and I'll run and jump over you.
The Spider climbed the hill. But as soon as he saw the Fox, his ears flattened, rushing towards him as fast as he could, he got scared and jumped to the side.
“Brother Spider,” the Fox got angry, “I didn’t know you were such a coward.” You will never be a Bison.
“Let's try again,” said the Spider.
The Fox ran up again, this time jumping over the Spider, but he jumped over so awkwardly that he tumbled several times and fell down.
Not only did he not turn the Spider into a Bison, but he himself again turned from a Bison into a Fox.
Spider saw this and almost burst out laughing. And poor Fox quickly disappeared into the prairie.
They say it right: if you don’t know how, don’t try it.
