An Evenk is walking through the forest. He hears noise echoing across the taiga. A snake and a bear are fighting. None of them can overcome. The bear saw the man and began to ask him:
“Help me defeat the snake, I will help you forever.” The snake saw a man and turned to him:
- Help me, hunter, kill the bear. I will take you to the bottom of the sea and show you a miracle. The man thought and thought and decided to kill the bear. So I did.
The snake put him on his back and took him to the bottom of the sea. She gave him a snuff-box, led him out onto the road into the taiga, and disappeared.
An Evenk walks along and wants to open his snuff box. It turns and turns, but can’t open it. The hunter cursed and threw his snuffbox onto a tree stump. The snuff box opened, and immediately there was a wooden table on the stump. And on that table there are all sorts of dishes, and most of all sausages and fatty meats.
The hunter realized what kind of miracle the snake had given him.
He walks and sees: the berries are growing. I picked a red berry and the horns grew. I picked a black berry and the horns fell off.
The Evenk understood what kind of berries they were.
A hunter came to the merchant and boasted of his miracle. And that merchant took the snuff-box from the Evenk. The hunter asked and asked the merchant for his miracle, but the merchant did not give the snuff-box to the hunter.
The hunter brought a handful of red berries and gave them to the merchant. The merchant ate one berry and big horns grew on him. The merchant suffered for a long time, and no one will help him, he walks with horns.
Then the Evenk came to him and said:
- Give me the snuffbox, I’ll cure you.
The merchant agreed and believed the hunter. The merchant ate the black berries and his horns fell off.
The Evenk took the snuff box back and went into the taiga. He will throw his miracle on a stump, and in front of him there will be various dishes, but most of all fatty meat.
And he never saw a snake again.
