Smoking fine

Boston passed a law banning smoking on the street.

One day Jonathan arrived in the city on business. He strutted around the center, puffing on a cigar, and caught the eye of a policeman.

“Well, well, then, smoke,” he remarked, “You have a fine of two dollars, stranger.”

- What are you talking about, do I smoke? - a Yankee was immediately found. - Try my “Havana” for yourself! It's not lit.

The policeman took the cigar from Jonathan, tried to take a drag, and immediately blew out a thick stream of white smoke.

“Well, well,” the Yankee remarked, “that means now you have two dollars.”

“I took yours,” the policeman agreed. - You, I see, are witty. Let's assume we're even.
