Slave and Sultan

Slave and Sultan
Enlight

One day a slave came to the Sultan and said:

- I hate power! I'm not afraid of you. I'll tell you everything I think is necessary. Then you can order me killed.

The Sultan took the ring off his finger and said:

- Go and sell this ring in the market for the price of one gold coin.

But no one wanted to take the ring for more than a quarter. When the slave named the price, everyone laughed and drove him away. Then he came to the Sultan with offense:

- Your product, like you, is worth nothing.

“Please, go to the goldsmith’s shop,” said the Sultan, “try to evaluate the ring there.”

The slave returned amazed:

- Here is your ring. The master valued it at a thousand gold pieces.

“You know as much about me as the people at the market knew about this ring.” How can you judge me?..
