Between the Sun Houses in Swamp Valley there is a gorge called House Gorge. There is a cave inside this gorge called the Cave of Skessa. The name came from the fact that a skessa lived there. She caused people little grief. One day she went to the sea to see what it had washed up on the shore. It is not known whether she met anyone there, but on the way home she was delayed because labor pains began.

There is a large stone on the sands of the Sun Houses; she lay down on him and gave birth to a child. A man approached her and she asked him to help her. The man did just that. Since then, this person has had a red line around her arm for the rest of her life, but she said it will have more power.

She asked him to let her ride a horse and help her get home. He replied:

“Get on horseback, big one, but don’t crush the horse.”

She stroked the horse's back and then mounted. So he took her home. When she dismounted, the horse's entire back was covered in blood. She thanked the man by saying that the horse never got tired again.

This stone has since been called the Stone of Skessa, and it still lies there on the sand, and there is a depression in it.

Another time, when she went ashore, she met a man whose name was Pietur. She attacked him; he was soon defeated. But he found a way out - he grabbed the hair on her stomach with his right hand and threw her down.

Then she asked him to save her life, which he did. Rising, she thanked him for his mercy; she also said that she could not do anything about the fact that his right hand turned blue, but that it would have twice as much power.
