Siren

The wind died down, and the sails hung lifelessly on the mast yards. Everything froze. Even the silvery lunar path will not tremble on the surface of the water.

But suddenly the silence of the night was broken by mysterious sounds. It seemed as if the waves were whispering, sharing their impressions of the past day. Soon, someone’s sweet singing began to be heard more and more clearly from the depths of the sea. The voice was so gentle and the melody so beautiful that it was difficult not to be charmed.

Lulled by the magical sounds, the sailors fell into a deep sleep. And then a slight splash of water was heard, and a strange creature with the face and body of a maiden, but with the scaly tail of a fish, appeared. It was a siren. They feared it more than the worst storm on the high seas.

Swimming up to the ship rocking on the waves, the sea beauty silently climbed aboard. With her eyes sparkling, she touched each of the sailors with her hand, and they, without waking up, lost their lives. Having lost control, the ship aimlessly plowed the seas until it crashed, hitting the coastal reefs, and carried to the bottom the secret of what the siren had done.
