Shidda

The Assyrians have a belief that in every house there is a witch - shidda, but she does not bring harm to people.

One day my great-grandfather caught a witch. He stuck a needle into her dress, and the witch immediately turned into a woman. Shidda became an obedient worker, but did everything the other way around. If they tell her to bring water, she will immediately take it away, if they ask her to sweep the floor, she will make a mess, and if they tell her to caress the children, she will beat them. That's why my great-grandfather always told her the opposite.

Shidda served in the house for a long time and without complaint, then her grandfather set her free.
