Shakiq's trial

Shakiq's trial
Enlight

They say that one day Shakik from Balkh told his disciples:

“I trusted in God and walked through the desert with the smallest coin in my pocket.” I went on a pilgrimage and came back, and the coin is still with me.

One of the youths stood up and asked Shakik:

- If you had a coin with you, how can you say that you relied on something higher?

Shakik replied:

“I have nothing to say, because this young man is right.” When you rely on the invisible world, there is no longer room for earthly things, no matter how small they may be!
