Ancient Chinese manuscripts say that at first there were three rulers. One was called Shu - fast. He reigned supreme over the South Sea. Hu - sudden - was the ruler of the North Sea. And between them was the lord of the Center, Hundun.
Shu and Hu visited Hundun for fun. He always greeted guests warmly and attentively, but he himself did not go to any of his friends, because he had no idea how this was done. One day, Shu and Hu, having said goodbye to Hundun, thought about how to repay him for his kindness. “Everyone,” they reasoned, “has two eyes, two ears, two nostrils and a mouth - seven holes for seeing, hearing, smelling and eating. But Hundun has none of this. So let’s make his life truly wonderful!”
The best thing, they decided, was to drill seven holes in Hundun. Going to another pleasant meeting, Shu and Hu took a drill and an ax. Both rulers worked all day until they made the first hole. Tired. They said goodbye affably and went their separate ways to their own seas. So in seven days they made seven holes for Hundun. On the eighth day, they came to see how wonderful Hundun's life had become. But the perforated ruler of the Center cried out sadly and died... And in his place a Universe with myriads of stars and an earth was formed, which forever separated Shu and Hu. This is how, from the point of view of the ancient Chinese, order began to be restored in the world.
