R. came Hanina ben Dosa to r. Johanan ben Zakkai to learn divine wisdom, and at that time from r. Yohanan's son fell ill, and the patriarch began to ask R. Khanin, saying:

- Khanina, my son! Pray for the Lord's mercy on my sick person.

R. bowed his head low, right down to his knees. Hanina and went deep into prayer. The patient recovered.

“If only I,” said R. Johanan to his wife, although I sat all day with my head bowed to my knees, my prayer would not have been heard.

- But is Khanina so much more worthy than you?

- It's not about dignity. But Hanina, in his meekness, is like a servant before the king, and I stand before the Lord as a nobleman before the king.
