Armenian parable One rural rich man had a servant, a handsome, cheerful young man. The owner had four sons, and none of them had children.
Whatever happened in that house, the servant was blamed for everything. The cheese disappeared from the karas, they said: “The servant did it.” A sheep died, they said: “This is the work of a servant.”
One day, a dairy cow died, and the owner's daughters-in-law blamed the servant for her death. The servant endured all the troubles in silence.
And then one day the eldest daughter-in-law gave birth to a handsome son, as handsome as the servant. On the occasion of the birth of the child, the owner arranged a magnificent feast. They ate, drank, and rejoiced that a son, a successor to the family, finally appeared in the house.
The servant was feasting with the guests. He was gloomy and sad. The middle brother, noticing that the servant was sad, asked:
- Listen, why are you so gloomy, why are you sad? Eat, drink, feast, your master has given birth to a son.
The servant replied:
- How can I not be sad, because everything that happens in our house, you blame it on me. And now you will say that I am again to blame for the birth of the child!
