A certain professor demonstrated a remarkable discovery to members of the Academy of his country. He took three flies from a matchbox. He then ordered them to fly around the table three times. Then, at his command, they jumped five times. Finally, they tap danced silently on the table while their images were magnified by a huge projector designed to allow a wide audience to see everything in detail.

The audience was captivated.

“And now,” said the scientist, “I will give a demonstration.” It illustrates my discovery.

He took the flies and dripped honey onto their legs, thus gluing them to the table. Then he shouted:

- Flies, jump!

The flies ate the sticky honey.

“Gentlemen, this proves,” the professor concluded, “that if a fly’s legs are covered in honey, it doesn’t hear anything!”
