But someone wrote a parable about him and gave it to a Zen master. The Zen master knew what to do with it and therefore turned it into his teaching. And the teaching spread throughout the area, and people began to praise the Zen master, who, in general, did not care. And they began to flock in crowds to listen to this great teaching.
And one day an ordinary man came to listen to the teachings of a Zen master, who lived like everyone else and worked like everyone else. And he liked the teaching, and he followed the advice. And he became brighter and wiser, although few people noticed it except himself. And he wrote a parable about his neighbor, who never went to listen to the master’s teachings, but lived like everyone else. And I gave this parable to the Zen master. And the Zen master, who didn’t care, said, “Thank you.” And he continued to spread his teachings.
