“A lot of time has passed since I came here, but not a single word was said to me about the essence of meditation.
Dogo smiled quietly and said:
-What are you talking about, my boy? Since you came, I have been constantly giving you meditation lessons!
These words confused the poor student even more. He pondered them for some time, but nothing became clear. And, plucking up courage, he again turned to the Master:
- Tell me, what kind of lessons were these?
Dogo replied:
- When you bring me a cup of tea, I accept it; when you bring me food, I accept it; when you bow to me, I nod back. How else would you like to learn meditation?
Soshin lowered his head and again plunged into thought about the Master’s mysterious words.
But Dogo interrupted him:
- If you want to see, look right now. Because when you start thinking, you miss completely.
