An amulet with the image of a scarab was placed on the heart of the deceased - this ensured resurrection. Numerous amulets were wrapped in shrouds of mummies, laid out in the coffin and installed in the tomb, in the burial chamber. To prevent the deceased from suffocating in the Duat, where there is no air, wooden figurines of Shu were also placed in the coffin.

All earthly gods associated with childbirth took part in the resurrection of the deceased: Isis, Hathor, Renenut, Bes, Taurt, Meshent, Heket and others; in addition, the amulets of the Eye of Wadjet contributed to the second birth.

Having been resurrected, the Egyptian found himself in front of the first gate of the “House of Osiris-Heptiamenti,” which was guarded by a guard named “He who watches the fire.” There was also a gatekeeper - “The Goth who bows [his] face to the ground, [having] many guises”, as well as a herald - “The one who gives the voice.” The deceased had to approach this gate and say:

- I am the great one who created his light, I came to you, Osiris, I pray to you, cleansed from everything that defiles <...> Glory to you, Osiris, in your strength and power in Ro-Setau. Rise in power in Abydos, Osiris. You go around the sky, you float in the presence of Ra < >. Glory to you, Ra, sailing across the sky <...>, open the way for me to Ro-Setau <...>. Make way for him to the Great Valley. Light the way for Osiris.

While still alive, the deceased had to read the “Book of the Dead” and learn from it the names of all the demons guarding the gates and all the spells. But in order to protect themselves from accidents, some spells were carved on the walls of the burial room. cameras.

Having passed the first gate, the deceased encountered two winding paths, separated by a fiery lake, on the shores of which terrible monsters lived, and only those who knew the names of the monsters and sacred spells could walk along the path past the lake.

To make the journey easier for the deceased, the gods created arits in the Duat - havens where one could rest and gain strength. But not everyone could enter such an arita, but only those who knew the magic words and names of the demons who stood guard at the entrance. Having passed through all the gates and leaving behind fourteen hills, the deceased finally reached the Great Hall of the Two Truths.
