Punished clubfoot

Rumyanka has rosy cheeks and brown hair. And there is a pink bow in her hair. She often goes to visit her grandfather. Her grandfather is a forester. He lives in the forest, in a wooden house.

One morning, leaving home, grandfather said:

- My dear granddaughter, I wanted some mushroom soup...

“Okay, grandpa, I’ll cook you some stew,” answered Rumyanka and added: “I’ll also go into the forest and pick some strawberries.” I know one clearing where the sweetest strawberries in the whole forest grow.

And the hard-working Rumyanka began to prepare the stew.

And grandfather with a gun walked along the path into the forest and soon disappeared behind the tall maples. Only the smoke from his pipe remained hanging in a cloud over the path.

The dry wood burned well, and the mushroom soup cooked quickly. Blush straightened her pink bow and took the basket.

“Grandfather will come in the evening, I have enough time,” she thought, “I will have time to pick a full basket of strawberries and return home before he arrives.”

By evening, Rumyanka returned home tired but happy. The basket was filled to the top with sweet strawberries picked in a forest clearing. Rummyanka put the basket on the bench by the door, and she entered the house and began to set the table.

As usual, the forester returned home when the first star lit up over the mountain. And this time, the breeze first brought the smell of smoke from grandfather’s pipe to Rumanka, then a quiet cough was heard, and finally, grandfather himself appeared at the door.

“Sit down at the table quickly, grandfather, before the stew gets cold,” said Rummyanka and boasted. - If you only knew what sweet strawberries I picked for you!

But grandfather did not have a chance to taste strawberries that evening. While they were having dinner, someone quietly crept up to the house and ate all the berries.

Going out into the yard, Rumyanka saw an overturned empty basket. The maple leaves that covered the strawberries lay around on the ground. Rummyanka felt very offended. Her blue eyes filled with tears.

“I know who ate the strawberries,” said grandfather. - This is Clubfoot's business. I saw him spinning around our house. Last summer he ate a whole pot of honey from me. But don’t worry, Rumyanka, this time we won’t let him down, we’ll wean him from such tricks.

Go to your meadow again tomorrow and pick a basket of strawberries. But when you return, do not leave it in the yard, but hide it in the house.

The next evening the forester came home early. He brought a hedgehog in his cap.

Blush did just that.

Then they sat down to dinner. A little time passed. Suddenly there was a noise outside the door. Grandfather and Rumyanka looked out into the yard and saw Clubfoot. The thief-bear cub ran away on his hind legs along the path. At the same time, he squealed pitifully and rubbed his pricked nose with his front paws. Since then, he has not even come close to the forester's house.
