There lived a certain madman who did not want to take part in general prayers.
One Friday, with great difficulty, people finally persuaded him to attend. But as soon as the leader of the meeting began to read the prayer, the madman began to make donkey noises. The others, deciding that he had simply succumbed to an attack of insanity and, at the same time, wanting to help him, turned to him:
“Don’t you have any concept of God left in you if you can make such animal sounds while in a meeting of believers?”
But the madman replied:
- I just did what the presenter did. When he started singing, he bought a donkey, and I screamed like a donkey!
When this strange remark was relayed to the presenter, he admitted:
— When I said: “God is above all,” I was actually thinking about my household. And when I got to the phrase, “Praise the Lord,” I thought I should buy a donkey. It was at that moment that I heard someone’s screams.
