A beggar came up and knocked on the gate. Afandi looked out of the window:
- What do you want? The beggar replied:
- Come down here, I have business with you!
When Afandi came down, the beggar asked him for alms. Afandi took him upstairs and chanted: “God willing, I have nothing.” The beggar asked:
“Why didn’t you say this downstairs, but made me come up here?” Afandi replied:
“Why did you make me come down, wanting to tell you what you need?”
