There lived one gentleman in the world. He had a large estate, and all the goods could not be counted. But of all his riches, he loved his hound most of all. And this dog was cunning - well, just like a man. Whatever the master orders her, she will do everything. And the gentleman gave her not just any name, but a human one: Parsley.
But I must say that that gentleman was evil and despicable. Not a single employee could serve him for more than a week.
And one day it turned out that the master was left without any workers at all: everyone ran away. He tried to get to work himself. But where is it: he doesn’t know how to do anything, and he’s lazy. It’s a well-known thing, I’m used to being ready to live. Then the gentleman harnessed his horse and went to look for workers. He drove and drove, but no one came to him: everyone knew that this gentleman was bad!
The gentleman returns home angry. Lo and behold, a guy is walking towards you and singing a song. And he himself was ragged and barefoot.
“Well,” the master thinks, “I’ll ask, maybe at least this ragamuffin will join me as a farm laborer.”
He held the horse.
“Hey, barefoot guy,” he shouts, “won’t you hire me as a worker?” The boy stopped.
“Well,” he says, “why don’t you hire him now that you’ve got a good guy?” Let's hire.
The master grinned and thought: “Hey, apparently he’ll hire him, since he thought I was good.”
“Well, then get on the cart,” he says. Yanka (that was the boy’s name) sat on the master’s cart, and they went to the estate.
They arrive home, and the gentleman says to Yanka:
- Take a second horse and ride into the forest for firewood. Yanka was embarrassed.
- Maybe, sir, we should have lunch first... You see, I’m hungry from the road.
- Did I really hire you for lunch, and not for work? - the gentleman shouted. - Look, he’s so cunning! Yank scratched the back of his head and said:
- Yes, I don’t know where the master’s forest is and what kind of trees to cut down there.
“Well,” the gentleman answers, “I’m tired and can’t tell you.” My dog Parsley will do this. I'll whisper to her and she'll take you where you need to go.
Yank harnessed his horse and rode after the dog. The dog was glad that he got out into the wild, and let’s jump and fly anywhere. And Yanka follows her. The dog goes into a puddle - and the worker with the cart follows it, the dog goes into the bushes - and Yanka goes there too.
So we came to the forest.
As soon as Yanka cut down one tree, the dog turned and ran home. Yanka quit his job, sat on the cart and followed the dog. Wherever the dog goes, Yanka goes there.
The sir saw that the worker had returned without firewood, attacked him and started beating him. He beat, beat, almost scored.
The next morning Pan Yanka woke up and said:
- Go, lazy man, slaughter a sheep: today guests will come to me.
- What kind of sheep should we slaughter, sir? - asks Yanka.
Pan waved his hand:
“I don’t feel like telling you.” Click on Parsley - whoever she runs up to, cut him.
Yanka took a knife, which was larger, called the dog and went into the shed. And the gentleman’s shed is big - there are a lot of sheep and rams in it. So the dog began to run around the shed: he would run up to one ram, then to another. And Yanka follows her - and grabs the throat, the throat of those sheep to which Parsley runs up. So he cut everyone off.
The gentleman came to see if Yanka had slaughtered a good sheep for the guests. As he looked at the sheepfold, he grabbed his head: all his sheep had been cut!.. Again the gentleman began to beat Yanka. He beat and beat, almost to death.
Yanka barely came to his senses, and the master said to him:
- Now, fool, cook the lamb! Make sure it tastes good: add pepper and crumble some parsley.
Yanka thought and thought about what kind of parsley this was, and then he remembered; Yes, that’s the name of the master’s dog! He killed the dog, tore off the skin, and chopped the meat finely and into the cauldron, as the master ordered.
The gentleman's guests gathered. Yanka began to treat them to lamb. The gentlemen are eating dog meat, it’s already crackling behind the ears. We ate so much that we couldn’t even breathe.
“And now, dear guests,” says the master, “I will show you my learned dog.” Hey, Yanka, call Petrushka here.
- Which one, sir? Parsley? - Yanka is surprised. “You yourself told me to chop it up and season the lamb.”
When the gentleman heard this, he turned green with anger. And then he became so sick that all his insides turned upside down. Well, get out of the way.
