They say that one man from Gieschen, having gone to the next world after death, approached the gates of heaven and asked St. Peter to let him in, because he needed to talk to the Lord God.
“The Lord God is not at home now,” answered the heavenly gatekeeper. “Wait a little.”
The petitioner, weakened by the illness that had brought him to the grave, squatted at the door. Suddenly he noticed on the carpet at his feet a golden key, which must have fallen from the bunch that Saint Peter wore on his belt.
He picked up the key and, looking around, noticed a narrow door with a keyhole, to which the golden key fit just right. Gishchenets unlocked this door and found himself in the throne room. There the Lord God carries out judgment, and around him angels sit on silver stools.
The hall was empty, and the gishenpu decided to sit for a minute on the throne of the heavenly father.
Before he could sit on the throne elevated above our planet, he saw everything that was happening on it.
In one place on the river, laundresses washed clothes. They hung it on the bushes that grew along the slope and left to have lunch. The clever thief, who was just waiting for this, jumped out from behind the bushes, took off his underwear, tied it with gorse rods and took off running.
The temporary deputy of the Lord God, outraged by such meanness, grabbed one of the silver stools and threw it from above at the fleeing thief.
Then, hearing footsteps outside the door, our Gishen man quickly left the throne, got out of the hall and sat down on the carpet again, leaving the Lord God and the angels to take their places.
The Almighty immediately noticed that one stool was missing. He asked Saint Peter what he had done to him.
“Definitely nothing,” answered the heavenly gatekeeper. “I don’t know where he went.” Could it be that the man who is waiting at the door and wants to talk to you stole it?
“Call him here,” the Lord God ordered.
“Did you take the stool that stood on my left?” - he asked the Gishen resident.
- Yes, Lord. I took it, that's true, but I don't have it.
-Where did you put him?
“And I threw them at the head of a thief who stole the laundry from the laundresses.”
The Lord God laughed at the top of his lungs.
- Damn it, how quickly you dealt with it! If I decided to kill on the spot all the thieves there are on earth, the world would soon come to an end.
