Nasrudin was among his students when one of them asked him about the relationship of this world with things belonging to another dimension. Nasrudin said: “You must understand allegories.” The student replied: “Show me something practical, for example, the apple of paradise.”
Nasreddin picked up the apple and gave it to the man. He said: “But this apple is half rotten, and the heavenly apple would certainly be perfect.”
“The apple of heaven must indeed be perfect,” Nasreddin replied, “but given your current abilities in general and the ability to judge the apple of heaven in particular, and also the fact that you, like all of us, are in this abode of decay, you can consider that you still would not have seen the apple of heaven in a different form.”
