1) My son! keep my words and hide my commandments with you. [My son! Honor the Lord, and you will be strong, and fear no one besides Him.]
2) Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching is like the pupil of your eyes.
3) Tie them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4) Say to wisdom: “You are my sister!” and call reason your own,
5) so that they protect you from another’s wife, from a stranger who softens her words.
6) So, one day I looked out the window of my house, through my bars,
7) and saw among the inexperienced, noticed among the young people a foolish young man,
8) crossing the square near the corner thereof and walking along the road to her house,
9) at dusk in the evening of the day, in the darkness of the night and in the darkness.
10) And behold, a woman came towards him, dressed as a harlot, with a treacherous heart,
11) noisy and unbridled; her feet do not dwell in her house:
12) sometimes on the street, sometimes in the squares, and she builds forks at every corner.
13) She grabbed him, kissed him, and with a shameless face said to him:
4) “I have a peace offering: today I have fulfilled my vows;
15) That’s why I came out to meet you to find you, and - I found you;
16) I made my bed with carpets, with colorful Egyptian fabrics;
17) I scented my bedroom with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon;
18) come in, let’s revel in tenderness until the morning, let’s enjoy love,
19) because the husband is not at home: he went on a long journey;
20) he took the purse of silver with him; will come home by the day of the full moon."
21) With many affectionate words she captivated him, with the softness of her lips she took possession of him.
22) Immediately he followed her, like an ox to the slaughter, [and like a dog to a chain,] and like a deer to a shot,
23) until an arrow pierces his liver; like a bird throws itself into a snare, and does not know that it is for its destruction.
24) So, children, listen to me and pay attention to the words of my mouth.
25) Do not let your heart turn away from her path, do not wander in her paths,
26) because she has cast down many wounded, and many strong men have been slain by her:
27) her house is the path to the underworld, descending into the inner dwellings of death.
