Parable of the Sun

Parable of the Sun

The morning sun, swollen and red from sleep, slowly crawled across the sky and talked with the wind:

- So you're saying they love me? - asked the sun.

- Yeah.

- And for what? I'm ugly...

- And they think it’s beautiful.

“Oh, well...” the sun became embarrassed and glanced sideways into the ocean. “Look, my prominences are sticking out in different directions, and the spots on my face have popped up.”

- But they don’t see it.

- Why don’t they see?

- Because they love you.

- Well, here you are again about the same thing! Why should you love me?

- They say because you bring light and warmth.

“What nonsense,” the sun was surprised. - Of course, I bring light and warmth. What kind of thermonuclear reaction is it without the release of energy? But this is just a normal process of life! Like a rumbling stomach.

- And they think that you are kind.

- Kind? What is kindness?

“I don’t know,” the wind admitted honestly. “But they apparently know, since they’re talking.”
