One day, a stonecutter found himself in the house of a rich merchant, saw all his enormous wealth and noticed how respected this merchant was throughout the city. The stonecutter envied this merchant and wanted to become just like him. Then he would not have to remain a simple stonemason.
To his amazement, this wish was fulfilled, he suddenly turned into a merchant and received many luxurious things and such power that he had never dreamed of. But then the poor people began to envy him and despise him, and he found himself with more enemies than he could have imagined.
Then he saw a high-ranking person surrounded by servants and soldiers. All people fell before this great and powerful man on codecs. He was the most influential and revered in the entire kingdom. And the stonecutter, who was now a merchant, wanted to become like this ruler, to have as many servants and guards and to have the strongest power.
His wish was granted again, and he became this high-ranking person, the most powerful man in the kingdom, before whom everyone knelt. But that ruler was at the same time the most terrible and hated person in the entire kingdom - that is why so many soldiers guarded him. In addition, the heat of the sun made the ruler feel very unhappy and insignificant. He looked at the hot sun shining brightly in the sky and said: “How powerful it is! I would like to be the sun!”
And as soon as he wished for this, he became the sun, illuminating the earth with its rays. But a strong wind blew, and the earth disappeared behind the clouds. “I would like to become as strong as the wind,” he thought and immediately turned into the wind.
However, even this wind, which easily uprooted trees and destroyed entire villages, turned out to be powerless when it collided with a rock. The huge stone was motionless and resisted the most violent pressure of the wind. “How powerful this stone is! - said the wind. “I wish I could be as strong.”
And then he became a huge stone that withstood the strongest winds. Now, having become the most powerful force on earth, he was finally happy. But then he heard a ringing: ding-ding-ding. The hammer drove the cutter into the rock and split it piece by piece. “Who can be stronger than me?” - thought the stone. And at the base of a huge boulder stood... a stonecutter.
