Azerbaijani parable A beggar was sitting by the road. No hat, no shirt, no shoes. The hot sun hit his head hard. Flies covered my face and body. He moaned from the strong and painful bites.
An important padishah rode past in a carriage, accompanied by a large detachment of armed guards. The padishah saw a beggar and stopped next to him. I felt sorry for the poor fellow. Haughty and stern, he said:
- I'm in a good mood today. I'm very kind today. Ask me for whatever your heart desires. I'll do anything! I will fulfill any request! Everything in this world is under my control! Everyone is afraid of me!
The beggar, exhausted from the annoying flies and the heat, bent down to the ground in front of the padishah and moaned, begging:
- For the sake of Allah! Save me from the flies! Tell them to fly away from here quickly! I'm dying!
The important padishah shrugged his shoulders:
- No! Flies don't obey me! I can't keep the flies away!
The important padishah and his retinue went further along the road. And the beggar remained sitting by the road, covered from head to toe in swarms of flies.
Immediately people came running to the beggar from all sides:
- Oh lucky one! The padishah probably helped you become a rich man!
The beggar winced and waved his hand:
“I didn’t know that the padishah was so powerless!” He couldn't even get rid of the flies! But there are no weaker creatures in the world than flies!
