In the old days, the owl flew during the day wherever it wanted and was not afraid of anything. In those days she was a dyer. Various birds flew to her, and she painted them in whatever color they wanted: red, blue, turquoise, yellow... The raven saw this and was jealous. He was a great dandy, and he wanted the owl to paint him the most beautiful color. He flew to the owl:

- Madam Owl! Lady Owl! Please paint me some special, unprecedented color that no other bird has. I want to amaze the whole world with my beauty!

- Uh-huh, uh-huh, good! - the owl agreed. For a long time she racked her brains about what color to paint the crow! Finally she put the crow in a pot with the best black ink. Then the owl pulled the crow out of the pot and said:

- Well, now you have no equal among the birds! The raven was delighted and hurried to the mirror to admire what color it had been painted. I looked and gasped. From his head to the very tip of his tail he became black and black, and you couldn’t even tell where his eyes were or where his nose was! The raven got angry:

“What color did you paint me, you scoundrel?” The owl began to make excuses:

“You yourself wanted me to paint you an unprecedented color, like no other bird has!”

- Wait, wait! Now we are blood enemies! The raven croaked angrily. - I will take revenge on you!

Since then, the owl no longer flies in the light. The owl is afraid of the raven's revenge, which is why it hides during the day.
