Old people's precious time

The doctor's waiting room was crowded with people. One elderly gentleman stood up and approached the manager.

“Madam,” he said politely, “I had an appointment at ten in the morning, and now it’s almost eleven.” I can't wait any longer. Could you book me in for another day?

One woman standing in line leaned over to her neighbor and whispered:

“He’s at least eighty years old.” What urgent matters could he have that he doesn’t even have time to wait?

The man heard this bewilderment. He turned to the lady, bowed and replied:

“I’m eighty-seven years old, lady.” It is for this reason that I cannot afford to waste a single minute of my precious time.
