Once upon a time there lived a woman in China who helped a monk for 20 years. She built him a small hut and fed him while he meditated. And so she wanted to know how much he had progressed during this time. To determine this, she asked one very beautiful and sensual girl for help.

“Meet him and, when you are alone, hug him,” the woman taught her, “and then ask him what he intends to do with you?”

The girl invited the monk to her place, and after tea and conversation she approached him. Gently clinging to his chest, she asked what he intended to do with her? The monk answered her poetically:

— An old tree grows on a cold rock in winter. There's not a drop of warmth there.

The girl returned and conveyed the monk’s words to the woman.

“And to think that I fed this man for 20 years!” - exclaimed the old woman. “He paid no attention to your wishes, he did not express an understanding of your condition. No one forced him to respond to your passion, but he should have at least shown compassion!

She immediately went to the monk's hut and burned it.
