Not far from Buddhism

One university student, during a visit to Gadzan, asked him: “Have you read the Christian Bible?” “No, read it to me,” Gadzan replied.

The student opened the Bible and began to read from the Gospel of Matthew: “And why are you worried about clothing? Look at the lilies of the field, how they grow: they do not toil, they do not spin. But I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like any of these. So, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow itself will worry about its own.”

Gadzan replied: “The one who uttered these words is an enlightened person.”

The student continued reading: “Forgive, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it is opened.”

Gadzan remarked: “This is wonderful. Whoever said that is not far from Buddhism.”
