Noise, din and trolls in the mountains

Noise, din and trolls in the mountains

Once two people went to the mountains to collect moss. One night they were both lying in a tent. One fell asleep and the other was awake. Then the one who was awake saw that the one who was sleeping was crawling out. He followed him, but had difficulty keeping up so that the distance between them did not increase. A man climbed onto a glacier. Then the second saw a huge skessa sitting on the top of the glacier. She behaved like this: she alternately stretched out her arms and then pulled them to her chest, and in such a magical way she pulled this person towards her. The man jumped straight into her arms and she ran away with him.

A year later, people from his parish went to the mountains to collect moss in the same places. Then he came to them, silent and gloomy, so that it was difficult to get a word out of him. People asked him who he believed in and he replied that he believed in God.

In the second year he again came to the same moss collectors. Then he looked so much like a troll that he was terrifying. However, he was asked in whom he believed, but he did not answer. This time he spent less time with people than before.

In the third year he came to people, he then became a real troll and looked very angry. Someone, however, dared to ask him in whom he believed, and he replied that he believed in “noise, din and trolls in the mountains” and then disappeared. After that, he did not appear again, people also did not dare to collect moss in this place for several years.
