And it was like that. Once Niykang and Dimo lived together, and their sons played with beads together. But one day Dimo's son swallowed the beads of Niykang's son. Niikang's son began to cry and ran to complain to his father. Niikang became angry. He came to Dimo and said:
“Your son swallowed my son’s beads.” Give them back to me right now!
“My brother,” answered Dimo, “the children were playing together, and we don’t know how it happened that my son swallowed your son’s beads.” But I will watch my son every time he goes to relieve himself. And when the beads come out, I will return them to you immediately.
But Niikang did not want to wait. He said:
- No, you must rip open your son’s belly right away!
“Do you really want to rip my son’s stomach open to take some beads?”
“Yes,” answered Niykang.
Then Dimo called all his children, called his wife and said:
My brother Niykang wants to rip my son's belly open for some beads. I can't live with such a person anymore. We're leaving here.
Dimo and his children moved to the south. Since then, his grandchildren, the Jo-Luo, live in the south, and the Shilluks, Niikang's grandchildren, live in the north.
