Malik, Dinar's son, was annoyed by the dissolute behavior of his young neighbor. For a long time he did not take any action, hoping that someone else would do it for him. But when the young man’s behavior became unbearable, Malik went to him and demanded that this disgrace stop.

The young man calmly replied that he was the Sultan’s favorite and that no one dared tell him how to live.

“I will personally complain to the Sultan,” replied Malik.

“You will waste your time in vain,” answered the neighbor, “the Sultan will not listen to you.”

“Then I will turn to Allah himself,” said Malik.

- Allah is too merciful to punish me.

Malik left with nothing. When the libertine’s behavior caused public indignation, Malik felt that he simply had to intervene. Approaching the neighbor's house, he suddenly heard a Voice:

- Don't touch my friend, he is under my protection.

Malik again experienced confusion and, entering the house, did not know what to say.

- Well, what this time? - asked the sinner.

“I came to reprimand you, but, approaching your house, I heard a Voice that told me to leave you alone, because you are under its protection.

The neighbor was very surprised:

- Am I His friend? Is that what he said?

But Malik had already left.

A few years later, Malik met his former neighbor in Mecca. The words of the Almighty influenced him so much that he left all his property and became a wandering dervish.

“I came here in search of my friend,” he said to Malik and died.
