One day people gathered to make it rain. The mullah encouraged them to make offerings for the poor. The mullah's wife heard this, baked a lot of bread, prepared a rich meal and distributed everything to the poor. When the mullah returned home, she offered him the leftovers.
Mulla asked his wife:
— From whom did you receive such delicious bread and halva?
“At your call, I prepared the food myself and distributed it to those in need, and these are the leftovers,” the wife answered.
Then the mullah began to beat her and say:
“I do not call the people to make offerings so that we cook and others eat, but so that others cook and we eat!”
