Mouse Vuviltu

Mouse Vuviltu

The fox chased the mouse Vuviltu.

Vuviltu ran and ran and saw that the fox was already catching up with her - and quickly climbed onto a high stone.

Wuvyltu sits there and trembles with fear.

And the fox lay down by the stone and waited for the mouse to get tired of sitting at the top and go down.

“I’d rather die of hunger than have a fox for dinner,” thought Vuvyltu. “We must save ourselves!”

I thought about Wuvylta, thought about how she could outwit the fox, and came up with an idea. She jumped on the stone and sang:

- Pee-pee-pee! Pee-pee-pee!

- Why are you so happy? - asks the fox.

- Yes, I see hunters with spears and bows are coming here!

- What do you think if they come here? - asks the fox.

- But of course! - says Wuvyltu. “When they reach this stone, they always light a fire and sit down to dinner. Maybe there will be something left for me too.

— Do hunters always sit at this stone? — the fox was wary.

“Yes, right here where you are sitting,” says Vuvyltu.

“You know what,” said the fox, “perhaps it’s time for me to have lunch.” I'll go fishing.

She got up and walked slowly, and then faster and faster. So the fox ran away into the tundra.

And Wuvyltu jumped from the stone to the ground and sang:

- Pee-pee-pee! Pee-pee-pee! I made it all up about the hunters! They also say that in the tundra there is no more cunning animal than the fox!
