Mother and three sons

In former times there was a god on earth, and at the same time there lived three maidens.

“I would like to marry one of these three girls,” God said and asked one: “What can you do?”

The girl replied:

– I know how to bake bread. I can bake so much of it that when three hundred soldiers have tasted it, there will still be a crust left. He asked another:

- What can you do?

- I will grow ninety-nine aspen trees! – this girl answered.

Then he asked the third:

-What can you do? “I will give birth to three sons,” she answered, “two of them will have golden breasts, one will have an ordinary human breast.”

- In that case, I will marry you. So be it! - God said and married her.

They began to live together. The time has come for his wife to give birth to a child. God said:

- Let the child be born without me, a man should not see how children are born! And he left.

He was somewhere for a long time and returned to the yurt when he decided that the child had already been born. There was one old woman there. He asked the old woman if the child was born. The old woman replied:

- Was born.

Then God wished to see the child. The old woman said to this:

- You can't see him.

– Still, I want to see him! - said God and ordered the old woman to bring the child.

The old woman went and brought a dog puppy instead of the child. God flicked him in the head and the head flew away.

And God began to live as before. Soon it was time for his wife to give birth again. God has left again. When he returned, he again asked this old woman whether he was born. son.

The old woman replied:

- Born!

– I would like to see the child!

The old woman said:

– You can’t see him!

– Still, I want to see; whatever it is, this is my offspring, bring him! - said God.

The old woman brought the dog puppy again. God flicked him on the head and his head flew away. And again God began to live as before. After some time, the time came for his wife to give birth to him for the third time.

God left, then returned and asked that old woman:

– Our child has apparently been born?

- Was born! - the old woman answered and brought a child with an ordinary human chest and head.

– This woman predicted that she would give birth to three boys!

I'll throw her away along with my son! - said God and, sewing her and her son into ox skin, he threw them into the sea.

The woman had just put a book of Holy Scripture and a penknife in her bosom. And while they were at sea, she took out the holy scripture and gave it to her son. The son looked and said:

– It seems that day and night still exist! To this the woman replied:

“Your father killed them a long time ago.”

- No, there are still some! - said the son and pierced the cowhide with a folding knife.

When he looked out, it turned out that they had landed on the shore. They got out onto the ground, and when they walked along it, fresh grass—cuckoo’s tears—grew in the places where they stepped. The mother made a hat for her son from this grass. The son put it on and went to play.

After some time he returned and asked:

- There I met a man who asks me for a hat, can I give it back? Mother said:

- Give it back!

And the son gave the hat to that man. For this the man gave the guy an axe, an iron stick, a bag and said to him:

- You will tell this ax: Build a yurt now! You will say to the iron stick: My fast stick! - and she will not let you be killed, even if three hundred soldiers come. You will say to the axe: Build a barn now! Inside the barn, shake the bag and you will have a lot of food of any kind that a person wants.

The guy took an ax, a stick, a bag and returned to his mother. He said to Axe:

– Now build a yurt! The ax began to chop, and a yurt was built. - Build a barn now! The ax began to chop again, and a barn was built. Then he shook out the bag in the barn and food appeared. Then the guy looked into the book and said:

“I think I have two older brothers somewhere.” Prepare something to eat and add some milk!

And he went, sitting astride a stick, which turned into a horse.

He went in one direction and met two guys with golden chests in some yurt.

“These are my older brothers!” – he decided and sat down.

At this time a giant entered, with all the animals hung on his belt. He cut up these animals, made a kebab out of the meat and ate everything.

“Now I’m full,” he said, “but I’ll eat this guy too.”

The guy said:

- My stick is fast!

A stick jumped out, hit the giant and cut him in two.

Then the guy said again:

- My quick stick, I would like to take these two guys with me!

And the stick put the guys on top of itself. The three of them returned to their yurt, sat down to eat, and the mother added her milk to their food. And the mother became a woman who always fed her children milk.
