In one forest there lived a troop of monkeys. One winter, completely exhausted, they noticed a firefly at nightfall. When the monkeys saw it, they thought, “This is fire.” They carefully took the firefly, covered it with dry grass and, bringing their arms, shoulders, bellies and chests closer to it, began to scratch themselves, as if they were really enjoying the desired fire.
And among them there was a particularly frozen monkey; She blew the grass every now and then, and was absorbed in it. Then a bird named Suchimukha, driven by fate, descended from the tree and said to her:
- Darling, don’t bother. This is not fire, this is a firefly.
Meanwhile, the monkey, not paying attention to her words, continued to blow and did not stop, despite the bird’s repeated entreaties. Why so many words? Approaching the very ears, the bird annoyed the monkey so much that it finally grabbed it and, hitting it against a stone, crushed the bird’s beak, eyes, neck and head, so that Suchimukha faded into oblivion.
