This was in the old days. There lived two inseparable friends: Yeshsou and Batalbey, and both of them fell in love with the beautiful princess Esma Khanym. She should have chosen one of them. The beauty chose Batalbey. An engagement took place. Having learned about this, Yeshsou was inflamed with hatred of Batalbey.

At this time, the enemy attacked the country. Yeshsou and Batalbey saddled their horses and set off on a hike. They rode along a forest path, with Batalbey in front and Yeshsou behind.

Yeshsou decided to kill his friend. Taking the pistol out of the holster, he took aim at Batalbey’s head. But... the gun misfired.

Batalbey, as if nothing had happened, stood up in his stirrups, turned to him and, holding out his pistol, said:

- Here, take my gun, it doesn’t misfire. Otherwise yours will disgrace you in the present case.
