The son of a peasant studied philosophy in a big city. After completing the course, he returned to his father in his native village.
The father was delighted and arranged a ceremonial meeting for his son, inviting neighbors to a feast. One of them asked his father:
– Your son lived in the city for a long time, what did he learn there? The father did not know how to answer the question, and turned to his son:
- Son, tell me, what did you learn in the big city? The son did not answer immediately; he himself was at a loss as to how to explain to his neighbors what philosophy was more easily. Finally he said:
– Father, do you see the fried chicken on the table? We'll eat it soon. That means she won't be there. The science that I studied proves that the chicken lies on the table and does not lie.
The father laughed in response and remarked:
- Okay. The chicken that lies on the table - let it be mine, and the one that doesn't lie - let it be yours.
