Regardless of whether you are happy or unhappy at the moment, remember - this too shall pass. This key will allow you to become the Master of your moods, and not a victim.
The great king, who had many wise men serving him, lost interest in his wealth. A neighboring country, more powerful than his, was about to attack. The king was afraid of death, defeat, despair, old age. So he called his wise men and said to them:
“I don’t know why, but I have to find something that will make me happy when I’m unhappy, and at the same time, if I’m happy or look happy, I can become sad.”
He asked about the key, the key that can open two doors: happiness and unhappiness. What did he ask for? He asked for control of his mood. He wanted to become the master of his moods, he no longer wanted to be their victim. The sages consulted among themselves, but could not come to any conclusion. Finally, they went to a Sufi mystic to ask his advice. The Sufi took the ring from his finger and gave it to them, saying:
- There is one condition. Give the ring to the king, but tell him that he can look under the stone only when everything is lost: complete disorder, complete suffering, and he is absolutely helpless. Otherwise he will lose the message.
The king obeyed. When his country was conquered, he fled for his life. The enemy was chasing him. He heard the sound of hooves behind him, and his horse died, he ran. He found himself in a hopeless situation. There was an abyss in front of him. And suddenly he remembered the ring. He opened it and looked under the stone, there was a message, it read: “This too shall pass.”
