The apprentice was cross-eyed and, entering the room indicated by the master, saw two vessels there. After this, he returned to the master and asked which of the two vessels he should take. To this the owner answered him:
“We have only one vessel, but because of your squint, it seems to you that there are two.”
Kosoy once again went into another room and, returning, again declared:
- I saw two vessels! Which one should I bring here?
But the master was stubborn in his opinion:
- If there are two of them, then break one of them! - he said.
When the apprentice broke one vessel, the other simply disappeared.
Oh, if only the vice of duplicity that plagues many people could be eradicated just as easily!
