Sosan was the third patriarch of Zen. Little is known about him, but that is as it should be, because history records mainly what concerns external events. History does not record silence. All entries are about anxiety. When someone becomes enlightened and silent, he disappears from the visible field.
Throughout his life, Sosan remained a wandering monk and never stayed anywhere for long. He was in constant motion. This is the meaning of Buddhist wanderers: not only in the outer world, but also in the inner world they should be homeless, unattached.
Even when Sosan became a Master, recognized by everyone as enlightened, he continued his previous beggarly path. And there was nothing special about him, he was an ordinary person - a man of Tao. And at the same time, he was not an ordinary person, but rather, he was a natural phenomenon - a Buddha.
