Somehow it happened one day that two people, an evil one and a good one, were walking from one city to another. It so happened that they did not bring food for the trip. The good man, who had recently been initiated by the Spiritual Master and was meditating on the Holy Sound and the Holy Light, was not worried about this, because he knew that God would come to the rescue and send something, but the evil man began to get very worried and, seeing a thicket in the distance, to the left of the road, he thought that there would be some edible fruits there. He said to the good one: “Let’s do this: everything on the left of the road will be mine, and on the right will be yours!” – and grinned maliciously. “Okay, honey, have it your way!” – the kind man agreed peacefully. Soon they saw thickets of wild grapes on the left. The evil one began to eat it and put it in his travel bag. The grapes were sour, but somehow quenched my hunger and thirst, although soon an upset stomach began and I wanted to eat even more. They walked for a long time and did not even offer a bunch of grapes to the good, for that was their agreement. But there is an apple tree growing on the right, but there are only three apples on it. The good man tore them off and offered one to the evil one. The angry man swallowed his saliva and in the blink of an eye ate the apple offered to him.
“I was weak from the grapes and so that you wouldn’t be bored walking alone, for your sake, I had to break our agreement!”
After walking a little, they met an old beggar sitting on the side of the road. The good one shared the last apple with him. The evil one gave the beggar more grapes, mentally imagining what would come of it and rejoicing that he would not be the only one to suffer.
And again, on their way, grapes grew on the left, and on the right were lonely fruit trees, on which there were always several large, sweet, juicy fruits, with which the good man treated the evil one and distributed them to the poor, while the evil one distributed grapes to the poor.
Upon arrival to another city, enormous resentment and anger grew in the evil one. He attacked the kind man with reproaches: “You knew from the very beginning that nothing grows on the left except sour wild grapes and you appropriated for yourself the fruits growing on the right of the road. You are a bad person!
“I am walking the path of Love!” – answered the peacefully kind one. - “Sour wild grapes don’t grow there!” God takes care of his children! Did not the poor receive through me the fruits that God sent them? Didn't you eat them? What’s stopping you from taking this Path?” There was nothing to answer the evil one to these words. With that we parted ways.
