There lived an Eskimo, a failed hunter. From morning to evening, in any weather - in the snow, in the wind - he was always on the hunt, but rarely brought the prey home, he always came empty-handed. And so that the family would not die of hunger, he cut the blood of a walrus or a seal from the snow near other hunters and brought it home.

One day, the ice floe on which the loser was located broke away from the shore and carried him out to sea. He carried and carried him and drove him into the ice. A polar bear approaches him and asks:

- Why do you never kill anyone?

– I don’t know, it’s like I get up early and go to bed late. And I don’t bring anything home.

- Because your wife is not caring. The animals don't like you, you dirty one!

- No, I’m human, that means I’m pure.

- Look at your pants, your clothes - how they stink. So the animal runs away from you. Come with me - I will show you how cleanly animals live in their own country!

The bear brought the hunter to her and showed him how to live. He remained among the animals and married a polar bear. The old nurse threw a holiday and howled to the animals that the bear had married a man. An old teacher taught a man how to walk underwater, catch fish, and swim on an ice floe.

The breeder called the walruses, hit the water with a whalebone, it turned out like a shot, some of the walruses got scared, the old breeder chose the strongest and those who were not afraid, and sent them to the rookeries.

The Eskimos hunt sea animals, and everything is unsuccessful. Suddenly they saw a man among the animals.

- Oh, this is our loser! - and they caught him.

- Why, my friend, are you giving your people over to starvation?

- Yes, I married a polar bear!

They brought the wife and children of the unsuccessful hunter. The wife said:

- When you fed me and our children with the blood of seals and walruses and we sat hungry, I did not leave you for another man!

-Who brought me to this? You have to keep yourself very clean so that the animal loves the hunter.

– How could I know this? . Since then, the hunter began to hunt a lot of animals, even more than his neighbors. The hunter's wife began to take care of her clothes, keep the tent clean, and in the spring, when fish and animals begin to move, she does not light a fire, so as not to scare the animal away from the shore with smoke.
