Once upon a time there lived a man named Pak Darangan. He wanted to marry the girl Ryik Datu. He came to make a match, and her father said: “I won’t let my daughter marry you until you make our house golden.”
Pak Darangan made their house golden. His father tells him again:
“I will give my consent if you come to our garden by boat.”
Pak Darangan came up with a way out: he dug a wide ditch and led the river straight into the garden.]
Now he could marry Ryuk Datu. Soon the young woman became heavy. She asks her husband: “Pak Darangan!” Go get me a mango. Just don’t knock it down with a pole - I won’t eat it. If you take a look at a mango, then I’ll eat it.
Pak Darangan went to the garden to buy mangoes. At this time, a fox named Ndok Tatasik snuck into his house and said:
“Ryuk Datu, you won’t leave me now.” I will gouge out your heart and suck your blood unless you give me everything you have.
Ryuik Datu got scared, gave her everything she had, and Ndok Tatasik threw her into the pool. The current carried the poor woman and nailed her to the sandal tree, she became entangled in the roots.
Pak Darangan returned home, and the fox was sleeping on Ryuk Datu’s bed. His soul sank from fear, and when he saw this, he said to the fox:
Aren't there two breeds of Pok Pong? Aren't there three breeds of benthas? And am I not Ryuk Datu?
Pak Darangan mistook the fox for a person and decided: “We need to organize a Merauk festival so that Ryuk Datu becomes the same as before.”
He sends servants to cut down the sandalwood trees that grow along the river bank. The servants went to the river and came across the same tree where Ryuk brought Datu. She saw that people were coming, quickly climbed to the very top and shouted from there:
Do not cut at the root of the sandalwood: After all, Ryuk Datu lives on it with his curly little son.
The servants returned home and told Pak Darangan everything. He thought: “I’ll go and listen to what it is.” He approaches the sandalwood tree, and Ryik Datu shouts again:
Do not cut at the root of the sandalwood: After all, Ryuk Datu lives on it with his curly little son.
Pak Darangan climbed the tree, took down Ryuk Datu and the baby and ordered them to be taken to another house.
Then he began to make an iron cage. He finished and said to the fox:
– Get into this cage, it’s just right for you!
Lise climbed into the cage, and Pak Darangan locked it. Then he called Ryik Datu and ordered Lysa to return all her property to his wife. I had to give everything to her. And then Pak Darangan ordered Lyse to be stabbed to death with spears.
Ryuk Datu and the baby returned to her husband’s house, and they lived as before and were happy.
That's the whole tale about Lysa and Pak Darangan.
