They say that in ancient times, the merry fellow Khozhe lived in our lands. Many stories are told about his tricks.
One day Khozhe’s donkey went missing. Khozhe went in search. I walked for a long time - no donkey. The sun is already setting. It soon got dark. No donkey.
“Oh Allah, help me find the donkey,” says Khozhe, “if you help, I promise you, I’ll sell it tomorrow at the market for just one ruble.”
As soon as he said these words, a donkey came out from behind the bushes. “Oh, why was I in such a hurry with my oath!” thought Khozhe. “Well, you can’t deceive Allah, tomorrow you’ll have to take the donkey to the market.”
The next day he tied his cat to the donkey and drove them to the market. People look at the donkey and the cat.
-Are you selling?
- I’m selling.
- How much does a donkey cost?
- One ruble.
- So cheap? I'll take it! - says the buyer.
“But the donkey is sold together with the cat, and my cat is a scientist,” says Hozhe.
— How much does a learned cat cost?
— Ninety-nine rubles.
- Wow! - says the buyer. - No, then it’s not necessary.
Hozhe traded like this all day: he asked for one ruble for a donkey, and ninety-nine for a cat.
The sun has set and evening has come. Khozhe says:
“Oh Allah, I didn’t deceive you, the sun saw me selling a donkey for a ruble all day, but no one bought it.” It's not my fault. Now the donkey will stay with me.
And Khozhe dragged his donkey home along with the cat.
