Letter from the Sultan

Once in the village where Nasreddin lived, a wedding was celebrated. The groom was vain and did not invite Molla to the feast, fearing in his heart that he would disgrace him in front of the guests.

In the midst of the feast, there was a knock on the gate. The servants went to open it and saw Molla Nasreddin outside the gate with a scroll of parchment in his hands. Exclaiming loudly: “An important letter to the groom! Letter from the Sultan of Bukhara! “Nasreddin walked to the place of honor, handed the parchment to the dumbfounded groom and immediately began to eat.

The groom unfolded the parchment, but did not find a single line in it.

- What did you bring me, you deceiver! It's just a blank slate! - the groom cried with annoyance.

“You see,” answered Molla, “the Sultan was in such a hurry to bring this message to you that I didn’t even wait for it to be written, but immediately took it and ran!”
