There lived a husband and wife. And they had one and only son. And the parents were elderly. It became difficult for them to do household chores: fetch water, clean the house, bake bread. After consulting, they decided to marry their son. “Let’s marry our son,” the old man said to his wife. “We are old, and we don’t have the strength to do household chores.”
They married their son and brought their daughter-in-law to the house. A week passed, then another, a month passed, and the daughter-in-law did nothing around the house... The old people still did the housework. The daughter-in-law ate and lay on the ottoman all day long. The old man and the old woman thought: how to make their daughter-in-law work? “That’s it,” the old woman says to her husband, “let’s go into the yard and start arguing there who should go get water today.” The daughter-in-law will hear our argument, feel ashamed, get up and bring water.
That's what they did: they went into the yard and began to argue.
The old man says to his wife: “Today it’s your turn to go get water.”
And the wife shouts to her husband: “No and no, today is yours!”
Hearing an argument in the yard, the daughter-in-law opened the door and, sticking her head out, said: “Father, why are you arguing?” Today you go get water, and tomorrow mom will go,” and, slamming the door, she went and sat down on the carpet.
