La Dana on a fig tree

La Dana on a fig tree
Enlight

One day La Dana went to a strange village to visit his friend. He walked both ways, and on the way back he was overcome by fatigue and thirst. He began to look around, but there was no one on the road.

He walks slowly, humming something under his breath. Suddenly he sees: three tabungs with palm wine are standing under a spreading fig tree - the inhabitants of a neighboring village sacrificed them to the god who lived on that tree.

La Dana drank plenty of wine.

Meanwhile, the peasants came to worship the sacred tree. La Dana heard their steps and voices, instantly climbed a tree and hid in the thick branches, so that he could not be seen from the ground. So the peasants gathered near the tree, laid out gifts - boiled rice with seasonings - and began to pray. And La Dana drank a lot - he wanted it out of little need. So he shouted from the tree:

- O mortals, I am the god who lives on this sacred tree, I accept your gifts. As a reward, I will give you a wonderful medicine that will strengthen your spirit. Throw your heads up, close your eyes and open your mouths wide.

The peasants did as La Dana told them: after all, they took him for a god. And La Dana sent a stream down. Although the liquid looked a lot like urine, they believed that it was medicine, a gift from God. After this La Dana said:

“I gave you this gift with all my heart, now go home.” And now I need to go up to heaven and stock up on new gifts.

When the peasants left, La Dana climbed down from the fig tree and ate both the rice and the seasonings without interference. And the peasants never found out that they drank La Dana's urine.
